Seeds of this rare and very easy to grow Musa campestris var limbangensis dark Limbang Swamp Banana. A smallish Musa from Northeastern Sarawak and Brunei on the island of Borneo. It forms extensive clusters of faded light green, sparsely blotched pseudostems to 3 ft. The inflorescence displays beautiful, light pink to purple bracts followed by a small, slender, whitish fruit with heavy purple striations in a candy stripe pattern. This variety became known to the world when the Bobby T, the Bruneian fruit man, published his book in the early 90s on the fruits of Brunei Darussalam. Seeds have perhaps never been offered before. Zones 9 to 11.

Coccinea - Red Banana

Seeds of this beautiful and very easy to grow Musa Ornata or Bronze Banana. Originally from southeast Asia this 9 foot plant is hardy to zones 9-11. It can benefit from slow release fertilizer and kept in full sun. It has beautiful pestfree foliage and a reddish midrib running down the 6 foot leaf. This easy to grow plant with yellowish edible fruit is very good growing in containers also. The seeds need to be soaked for 24 hrs and then sown 1 deep and kept at 68 - 77 degrees with light. These can take anywhere from 8 weeks to 4 months to germinate.

Seeds from this and very easy to grow tropical Musa coccinea uranoscopus or Red Banana. Hardy to zones 7 to 11 and can be planted outside with lots of mulch and frost protection. Outside it needs to be fertilized with slow release fertilizer and kept in full sun. This fast grower does not grow much taller that 5 feet. I have had mine for five years and it has not grown more than five feet. It has pest free foliage and a burgundy midrib running down the leaf. The red flowers are followed by red bananas that are not edible, just to look at. This is also a very good house plant and one of the few bananas that will blossom inside. This easy to grow plant is very good in containers also.
