seeds of this unusual Musa textilis from Borneo. Also known as Manila hemp. The plant grows moderately large and forms a very colorful inflorescence bud. A very easy to grow and highly ornamental banana for the tropics. A good, reliable ornamental for warm temperate and tropical areas. As I have not grown these yet, I can give you no hands on experience only what my supplier tells me about this new offering. The seeds need to be soaked for 24 hrs and then sown 1" deep and kept at 68 - 77 degrees with light. These can take anywhere from 8 weeks to 4 months to germinate.

Not producing edible fruit but shows off their beautiful unfurling leaves with both red and sometimes white edges. The dark maroon midrib very attractive. seeds of this Very Rare and easy to grow Musa voonii. New Musa Species from Northern Borneo. The species is abundant in the Lawas area, Sarawak, East Malaysia and in isolated locations within a radius of 200 km from Lawas. Musa voonii is a medium-sized plant with a slender densely clustering, reddish-purple pseudostem to about 10 ft. tall. The inflorescence is held horizontally and produces shiny, deep reddish-purple bracts that are followed by small, pale fruits to 4.5 in. long. Although seeded, the fruits are quite flavorful. Musa voonii is closely related to M. beccarii. It thrives in hot, humid environments.
