They grow in full sun to part shade with very little extra care and have very few insect problems. Hardy in zones 5-10. Enjoys cooler winters and is hardy to 10 degrees. As with lots of trees the leaves are poisionous if eaten in large quantities.

It can reach 60' in height in its native range, but generally is much smaller (4-10' tall) in culture. The leaves are 3-4 long, thick and leathery, and shiny dark green.
