very unusual annual vine Phaseolus Caracalla. In no time at all this relative of the lima bean produces leaves in sets of three and huge lavender curly q's will cover a vertical surface up to 15 feet. This plant needs a trellis or other climbing structure to grow on. As the summer gets warmer, this vine seems to thrive and produce more flowers. The blossom is the shape of a contorted corkscrew or a nautilus shell. There is a light hyacinth fragrance and should be plants in full sun(for maximum flower production).

This small heirloom yellow and orange stirped melon is very fragrant and was said to be used in Victorian times and a substitute for perfume. The golf ball sized melons have a very velvety feel to them. I keep a large bowl of them in my kitchen when in season. They will add lots of wonderful melon odor to the house. The taste is very bland. Grown as you would any melon seeds in spring when all threat of frost has past.

Seeds from evergreen vine called Pyrostegia Venusta or Golden Shower vine or flaming Trumpet. This 50 foot vine produces sprays of 3 inch bright orange trumpets that form clusters of up to 15 blossoms. Hardy in zones 9 to 11 and blossoms in the winter through late spring. Very easy to grow in full sun and keep in bounds compared to other vines. This plant is fairly drought tolerant but does need well drained soil.
