Passiflora Alata. This plant grows 30 to 35 feet and is root hardy in zones 8 and higher. It likes full sunshine and a mild dose of potash in the early spring. The flowers on this plant are about 3 inches across and have large maroon petals with purple and blue filaments. This vine produced many of these beautiful blossoms during this past summer followed by large fruits about 2 inches across.

Passiflora Edulis Black Beauty produces sweet, delicious purple-black passion fruits. This vine is beautiful but usually is grown for the fruit, that are exceptionally sweet. This vine produced 30 to 40 of these beautiful blossoms and fruit during this past summer The vine grew to about 20' and was pretty much pest free.

Passiflora Edulis Flavicarpa This is a vine that produces delicious yellow passion fruits. Although beautiful, most of the time it is grown for the fruit that is exceptionally sweet. This vine produced 15 to 20 of these beautiful blossoms during this past summer. The vine grew to about 30' and was pretty much pest free. The caterpillars didn't seem to want to eat this one as much as some of my others. This vine is foliage hardy in zones 9 and higher, I keep mine in a 14 pot and protect it in the winter months.

Passiflora Edulis Purple Granadilla. This passion vine is hardy in zones 8 and above and produces lots of these large sweet purple passion fruits in the spring. The vine grew to about 30' and was pretty much pest free. The caterpillars are not a problem with this variety. I keep mine in a 20 inch pot and protect it in the winter months with just a light blanket if temps get if the teens.

Passiflora Incarnata or maypop is extremely easy to grow and will produce lots of small edible fruit each summer. The vine grew to about 30' and was pretty much pest free. The caterpillars didn't seem to want to eat this one as much as some of my others. This vine is foliage hardy in zones 9 and higher and root hardy in zones 6 and above.

Mollissima is one of the most colorful of all passion vines. This is a very large striking pink blossom that appears to have a maroon ring with white specks emerging from the center. Also known as the banana passion vine. Hardy in zones 9 and above, this 15' vine has clusters of 3 inch soft pink flowers that bloom from April thru August, it does slow down when the temperatures get in the high 90's. The fragrance is very delicate.
