Passiflora alata

seeds of Passiflora Alata. This plant grows 30 to 35 feet and is root hardy in zones 8 and higher. It likes full sunshine and a mild dose of potash in the early spring. The flowers on this plant are about 3 inches across and have large maroon petals with purple and blue filaments. This vine produced many of these beautiful blossoms during this past summer followed by large fruits about 2 inches across.

It produced 15 to 20 of these beautiful blossoms during this past summer and was pretty much pest free. This vines is foliage hardy in zones 9 and higher, I keep mine in a 14 pot and protect it in the winter months.

Here I am offering seeds from Passiflora edulis var. flavicarpa, also known as Lilikoi, Passionfruit, and Passionvine. Passiflora flavicarpa is usually grown for its fruit, which is exceptionally sweet and delicious. My vine grew 20 feet long and produced 15 to 20 of these blossoms during the past summer. It was pretty much pest free. I keep Passiflora flavicarpa in a 14 inch pot so that I can cut it back before the winter months and bring it inside. USDA Hardiness Zones 9 to 11

The caterpillars are not a problem with this variety. I keep mine in a 20 inch pot and protect it in the winter months with just a light blanket if temps get in the teens. Zones 8-11.
