This second year seedling is quite different than the others as it has a gold crown on the head and is perched upon a stalk that has no significant leaves. Growing up to 6 feet tall, and hardy to 20 to 25 degrees or zone 9 and above. Ideal conditions are full sun, rich, well drained loam soil with a pH of approximately 7. 5, regular deep watering in summer and liberal applications of fertilizer in early summer.
